The front cover and advert designs were created as part of a college unit for a fictional magazine called ‘Fret’, referencing the part of the guitar and providing a link to the topic the magazine is about.
The front cover was created using Photoshop and a mixture of images that were sourced for free or purchased for this project. Image layers and layer blends were used to get the effects I wanted for the cover.
I watched an online tutorial to create the chrome effect logo and the image of the guitar plectrum was added as a reflection in the chrome, again to emphasise tat this was a music magazine.
I had the idea for the advert when I saw the headphone image on a royalty free CD of images, supplied with an issue of Computer Arts. The rest of the advert was developed through experimenting with different images and later effects in Photoshop. The text was added around the advert graphic trying to make it flow and easily readable. The result I am very pleased with.
